EU Grant Deadlines Calendar 2026/2027: The Cleantech Rhythm

EU funding runs on an annual rhythm. Know it, and you plan a year ahead. Miss it, and you find out about calls after they close.

EU cleantech funding is not random - it runs on an annual rhythm. Once you know when each programme publishes and closes its calls, you can plan applications a year ahead instead of scrambling when a deadline appears. This is the calendar, programme by programme. Dates shift between work programmes - always confirm on the official Funding & Tenders Portal before planning around a date.

The annual rhythm of the big programmes

Horizon Europe (Cluster 5: Climate, Energy and Mobility)

Horizon Europe publishes multiannual work programmes - the 2026-27 work programme was adopted in December 2025 - and calls typically open in waves shortly after adoption, with deadlines clustered in the first half and early autumn of each year. Two-stage calls have a first-stage deadline, then a full-proposal deadline several months later.

EU Innovation Fund

The Innovation Fund runs large annual calls for net-zero technologies - the 2025 Net-Zero Technologies call, for example, closed on 4 December 2025 - plus smaller pilot and clean-tech manufacturing calls during the year. Expect the big calls in the last quarter, smaller ones scattered mid-year.

LIFE Programme

LIFE publishes its calls in spring. For 2026, standard action projects in Circular Economy and Zero Pollution closed on 22 September 2026, and other sub-programmes follow a similar late-summer/early-autumn pattern. LIFE is the most accessible entry point for smaller cleantech projects.

National co-funds and regional programmes

Each member state runs its own cleantech co-funding (often ERDF-backed). These follow national calendars - the most common reason companies miss them is that nobody was looking at the national portal at all.

How to work the calendar

  1. Map your programmes once. Most cleantech companies fit 2-4 programmes. List them and their rhythm - the table above is your starting point.
  2. Work backwards from deadlines. A serious Horizon or Innovation Fund proposal takes 2-4 months of preparation. The deadline minus four months is your real start date.
  3. Watch for call openings, not deadlines. The deadline is the last day. The opening date is when smart teams start.
  4. Track changes weekly. Amendments happen - calls open early, deadlines move. A weekly check of the Funding & Tenders Portal is the minimum.

That weekly check is exactly what DeadlineRadar automates: every open call, every change, every closing date - filtered for cleantech and delivered in one brief. Founding members lock $79/month for life (first 5 subscribers), with a 14-day free trial.

The next deadline that fits you is already on the calendar

DeadlineRadar tracks every relevant call and sends one filtered weekly brief with deadline alerts. 14 days free - card required, charged only after the trial.
